DNC Chair says unemployment has not risen under President Obama

The Chair of the DNC, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, insists that unemployment hasn't risen under President Obama.

Unemployment when President Obama took office was in January of 2009: 7.8%

Unemployment rate for November 2011: 8.6%

Adjusting to equalize the labor pool, Ezra Kline of the Washington Post estimates that our current unemployment rate may be as high as 11%:

Since 2007, the percent of the population that either has a job or is actively looking for one has fallen from 62.7 percent to 58.5 percent. That's millions of workers leaving the workforce, and it's not because they've become sick or old or infirm. It's because they can't find a job, and so they've stopped trying.

If 62.7 percent of the country was still counted as in the workforce, unemployment would be 11 percent.
